Forests 2020 Indonesia to Hold Practical Class of Geodetic GPS

Project Info

Project Description

Forests 2020 Indonesia team from Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University – hold a practical class of introduction to the utilization of geodetic GPS/GNSS, as knowledge sharing to the students. This activity is part of a undergraduate course in Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University, namely Land Geometry and Regional Mapping. The participants of this practical class are undergraduate students from Department of Forests Management and Department of Forests Conservation and Ecotourism.┬áThere were 6 parallel classes, in each class there were around 30 students, and hold for 5 days ( November 26 – 30, 2018).

In this practical class, we shared our experience in utilizing geodetic GPS/GNSS for research survey purpose. This was to give brief conception to the students that technology in measurement or surveying has been developed so fast. Now by using geodetic GPS/GNSS, we can do measurement in high precision (< 1 cm of accuracy). This ability is highly required for forest survey and mapping, especially for research purpose.
